I presume that this is the same Richard Dulniak who went to Vaughan Road School in West Harrow. We were never great friends but he featured prominently in my life as he always beat me into 2nd place in the sprint race on games day (and won the prize of a cricket ball). He was a taller-than-average lad and his long strides left me in his wake. In the 4th year he was sick on the day of the race so I thought: "Ah, here's my chance to put 3 years of hurt behind me." Well, 2 new kids had come to the school that year and they beat me into 3rd place. I was GUTTED. Mr. Evans asked me to pick the football team and I made the customary choice of Brian Goodwin for the keeper, as he always played in goal in the playground. The 1st game was against Roxeth Hill on thei absurdly inclined pitch and Brian, rather biazarrely, deigned to use his hands to stop the ball, preferring to use his feet (as in the playground). I don't remember how we came upon Richard to replace him in goal, as Richard didn't play footie with us, but thank God we did and he turned out to be a great keeper. RIP.
